The Critical Race Studies Program

One of our priorities for the 2005-06 schoolyear is to deepen the application of CRS analysis to current events and the integration of critical race theory and practice. At the beginning of this schoolyear, the CRS community was deeply moved by Hurricane Katrina's impact in the Gulf Coast. We felt compelled to create a clearinghouse and discusson space related to the various forms of subordination implicated in the devastation caused by the intersection of natural disaster and public policy. The weblog serves as an important point of connection for reflection and coordination of a CRS analytical and practical responses to one of the major crises facing the US. We encourage input and participation in our effort to promote analysis that brings to the fore issues that are otherwise submerged by dominant discourse and mainstream narratives. We are also using the blog to facilitate and document the CRS community's efforts to provide constructive and practical responses to this analysis. Please feel free to post comments and submit related documents for our consideration.
