Critical Race Studies (CRS)
In order to provide interested students the best tools to study and practice in this area, UCLA School of Law has established the Critical Race Studies Concentration, available to second- and third-year students. While virtually all elite law schools have faculty teaching and writing in this area, UCLA is the first American law school to offer an advanced curriculum that will foster students' systematic and more rigorous study in this area of growing interest to scholars, lawyers, and the general public. As a public law school in the nation's most racially diverse state (and as the only public law school in Southern California), we view this program as an essential part of the public conversation about race relations in the new millennium.
